Our Story

So you tried that awkward 1-on-1 lesson or a YouTube tutorial and found yourself getting nowhere? Welcome to the first ever official Happy Hour Guitar class — Strum & Sip.

The idea started when Chris and his friend John were playing guitar and sipping on some tequila. They thought: this is great. Learn how to play guitar while sipping your favorite drink. A few friends joined, and back in January 2011, Strum & Sip was born.

Today, we offer 12 levels of instruction from beginner to advanced, along with dozens of elective classes across Denver and Reno. At Strum & Sip, we focus on giving you the tools to make music on your guitar in just 1 or 2 lessons. If you're not making music and having fun, then what's the point?

"I've spent over 20 years teaching all types of students, ranging in age from 5-75. I've taken all my experience and implemented it into a 12 level series that will change your guitar playing forever."

— Chris Bloom, Founder

What the Press Says

"
Instant gratification while sipping your favorite bev and mingling with like minds — sounds like a formula for some serious stroking. In fact, it is possible that stroking could be your first lesson. I happened upon one of Bloom's classes and never realized how even the most basic strumming patterns have the ability to completely alter a song.
— 303 Magazine
"
A truly imaginative and uber-chic way to mix up the 9-to-5 grind, Strum and Sip will ignite the creative impulses lurking inside you. Put the strut back in your step and the zing in your fingertips. Impress friends with a new party trick or better yet, sign yourself up plus one — boyfriend in tow — and get competitive!
